The Bar Book is committed to being a safe, authentic, and respectful place for people to share their experiences, discover drinks they love, and connect with others. These Community Standards outline what is and is not allowed on The Bar Book to protect our members, brands, and partners.

Our Standards apply to all users, content, and activity on The Bar Book, including posts, photos, videos, messages, reviews, events, and interactions through our mobile app, website, APIs, and integrated partner tools. 

The Bar Book is designed to be a community where people can freely share their drink experiences, recommend products, and discover new flavors while feeling safe and respected.

We believe in:

• Authenticity – Real people, real stories, real drinks.
   
• Safety – Zero tolerance for threats, harm, or exploitation.
   
• Privacy – Respecting personal information.
   
• Dignity – Treating all members with respect.
   

These standards are based on expert guidance in technology, public safety, human rights, and community feedback. Violations may result in content removal, feature restrictions, or account suspension.

• Authenticity – Misrepresentation of identity or intent is prohibited.
   
• Safety – Content that promotes, threatens, or facilitates harm will be removed.
   
• Privacy – Personal and confidential information is protected.
   
• Dignity – Harassment, discrimination, and degrading treatment are not allowed.

3.1 Violence & Criminal Behavior

We prohibit:

• Coordinating, promoting, or admitting to criminal activity (e.g., vandalism, theft, hacking, voter fraud).
   
• Threats of violence, incitement to harm, or participation in dangerous challenges.
   
• Support for dangerous organizations, terrorists, or hate groups.
   
• Fraudulent schemes, impersonation scams, or the sale of restricted goods (including firearms, high-risk drugs, endangered species, and counterfeit products).
   

3.2 Safety Protections

We remove content that:

• Exploits or endangers minors (child sexual exploitation, abuse, or nudity).
   
• Engages in sexual violence or non-consensual intimate imagery.
   
• Facilitates human trafficking or exploitation.
   
• Promotes suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders without recovery context.
   
• Bullies, harasses, or sexually harasses other members (especially minors and private individuals).
   

3.3 Objectionable Content

Prohibited content includes:

• Adult nudity or sexual activity outside of limited health, educational, or protest contexts.
   
• Sexual solicitation or explicit sexual language leading to solicitation.
   
• Hate speech targeting protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious disease, etc.).
   
• Violent or graphic imagery without news, awareness, or condemnation context.
   

3.4 Integrity & Authenticity

We remove:

• Fake accounts, stolen identities, or impersonation of individuals/brands.
   
• Coordinated inauthentic behavior or government interference.
   
• Attempts to compromise accounts, spread malware, or phish for credentials.
   
• Misuse of The Bar Book to artificially boost content popularity or evade enforcement.
   

3.5 Misinformation & Harmful Content

We may remove misinformation when it is likely to cause imminent harm, including:

• False health claims during public health emergencies (e.g., vaccine misinformation).
   
• Election or census misinformation that could prevent participation.
   
• Manipulated media (deepfakes) that mislead about events or statements.
   

For other misinformation, we reduce visibility, add fact-check labels, and direct users to authoritative sources.

Violations may result in:

• Content removal
   
• Temporary restrictions
   
• Account suspension or permanent removal
   
• Reporting to law enforcement for serious threats or illegal activity
   

We consider severity, intent, and history when determining penalties.

 If you believe we made a mistake:

• You may appeal by contacting support@thebarbook.co with your username, content link, and explanation.
   
• Appeals will be reviewed by trained moderators, and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

 We may update these Standards to reflect new laws, safety risks, or community needs. Significant changes will be communicated before taking effect. Continued use of The Bar Book constitutes acceptance of updated Standards.
