The Bar Book Community Standards & Policies

Introduction & Purpose
The Bar Book is more than an app—it’s a community dedicated to authentic connection, discovery, and respect. Our Community Standards are designed to foster a safe, welcoming environment where members can share experiences, explore new flavors, and celebrate the craft of beverage making. These standards apply to all users, content, and activity across The Bar Book platform, including our mobile app, website, APIs, and partner integrations.We are guided by the following core values:
- Authenticity: Real people. Real stories. Real drinks.
- Safety: Zero tolerance for threats, harm, or exploitation.
- Privacy: Respect for personal information and boundaries.
- Dignity: Every member deserves respect.
Our policies reflect best practices in technology, public safety, and human rights, shaped by community feedback. Violations may result in content removal, restricted access, or account suspension.
Guiding Principles
- Authenticity: Misrepresentation of identity or intent is strictly prohibited.
- Safety: Content that promotes, threatens, or facilitates harm will not be tolerated.
- Privacy: We safeguard personal and confidential information.
- Dignity: Harassment, discrimination, or degrading behavior is not allowed.
Prohibited Conduct & Content
1. Violence & Criminal Behavior
We do not allow:
- Coordination, promotion, or admission of criminal activity (e.g., vandalism, theft, hacking, fraud).
- Threats of violence, incitement to harm, or participation in dangerous acts.
- Support for dangerous organizations, hate groups, or terrorist activity.
- Fraudulent schemes, impersonation, or the sale of restricted goods (firearms, illicit drugs, endangered species, counterfeit products).
2. Safety Protections
Content will be removed if it:
- Exploits or endangers minors, including any form of abuse or inappropriate imagery.
- Engages in sexual violence or shares non-consensual intimate content.
- Facilitates human trafficking or exploitation.
- Encourages suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders without a recovery context.
- Bullies, harasses, or targets individuals for sexual harassment.
3. Objectionable Content
Prohibited content includes:
- Adult nudity or sexual activity, except for limited health or educational contexts.
- Sexual solicitation or explicit language seeking solicitation.
- Hate speech targeting protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious disease, etc.).
- Violent or graphic imagery outside of news, awareness, or condemnation contexts.
4. Integrity & Authenticity
We will remove:
- Fake accounts, stolen identities, or impersonation of individuals or brands.
- Coordinated inauthentic behavior, including interference by organizations or governments.
- Attempts to compromise accounts, spread malware, or phish for credentials.
- Misuse of The Bar Book to artificially boost content or evade enforcement.
5. Misinformation & Harmful Content
We may remove content that poses imminent harm, including:
- False health claims during public health emergencies.
- Election or census misinformation that could prevent participation.
- Manipulated media (deepfakes) designed to mislead. For other misinformation, we may reduce visibility, add fact-check labels, or direct users to authoritative sources.
Enforcement & Penalties
Violations of these standards may result in:
- Content removal
- Temporary feature restrictions
- Account suspension or permanent removal
- Referral to law enforcement in cases of serious threats or illegal activity
Penalties are determined based on severity, intent, and user history.
Appeals Process & User Rights
If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error:
- Contact our support team at support@thebarbook.co with your username, content link, and a brief explanation.
- Appeals are reviewed by trained moderators, and you will receive a response within a reasonable timeframe.
Updates to the Standards
We may update these Standards to reflect changes in law, emerging safety risks, or evolving community needs. Significant updates will be communicated in advance. Continued use of The Bar Book indicates acceptance of any updated Standards.
